The origin of the name Péret-Bel-Air is the occitan word pera (meaning pear), followed by the suffix et giving as definition, “pear orchards”. Bel-Air means “big area”.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO

  • Church Saint-Peter : built in the 14th or 15th century, the church was the subject of many works in the 19th century, following the looting of the French Revolution. Originally covered  with thatch, it was covered with slates in 1850. Modest building, it is provided in particular with a bell tower wall and it shelters a statuette of the Virgin of Pity, made in polychrome limestone of 15th century (classified as Historical Monument).

  • The Col de la Blanche peat bog: wetland, it constitutes a typical and characteristic landscape of the Plateau de Millevaches. Sheltering animal and plant species that are sometimes protected, the Col de la Blanche peat bog is accessible via a small discovery trail that will teach you more about the environments that make up the peat bog.

  • Hiking trails : two itineraries are to be made to discover the points of view and other small treasures which male Péret-Bel-Air, a natural and out of the common village.

  • Jolie Fleur’s farm : educational farm that allows you to go out and meet animals, including Highland Scottish cows.
