MEYRIGNAC L'EGLISE

Meyrignac l’Eglise

In the Monédières, discover Meyrignac l’Eglise.

This little village, located in southern limit of the Monédières, presents a certain architectural interest. In the 12th century, the village belonged to the Order of Malta’s Commandery (a military order of the Knights of Saint-John of Jerusalem).

Meyrignac l’Eglise is composed of many hamlets : Salagnac, la Vialle, Coustal, The Pond, …

WHAT TO SEE AND DO

  • Church Saint-Anne :built in 1489, then rebuilt in the 19th century, its 17th and 18th century wooden carved tabernacle is worth a visit. It has a Limousin portal under its porch with carved caps like in Eyrein or Chaumeil.
  • Old typical mansions and houses : very old homes enhance the architectural quality of this ensemble. When you are in Meyrignac l’Eglise, you can notice the old presbytery with an arched granite portal and a restored bread oven. Further west of the village, two adjoining houses, with a lauze roof, present a superb facade registered with the Historical Monument. In front of the road, the Henri IV house had a wooden gallery supported by pieces of timber, now missing.

  • The Meyrignac pond : do not miss the walk around the Meyrignac pond, full of charm with its greenery. With an area of 17 hectares, it is located east of the village. During the summer, you can enjoy the beautiful and relaxing surroundings such as the hiking trails.

  • P’tite Ferme de Caro: educational farm that welcomes visitors to discover the world of animals.

  • Savonnerie des Monédières : artisanal workshop manufacturing organic soaps.
