Not far from de Dordogne Valley, in a wonderful natural environment, discover Marcillac-la-Croisille.

Labeled as a green resort, Marcillac-la-Croisille is, in an exceptional environment, a favorite stop to rest and relax in Corrèze. The Sports and Nature Station allows lovers of nature activities to indulge in their passion (fishing, watersports, tree climbing, …). Lovers of walks and hikes will discover the Lantourne Viaduct, built in 1949 and originally intended to have the Transcorrezian passing on it, or Bardot’s garden, which will offer a magnificent view of the Dordogne gorges.

 


WHAT TO SEE AND DO

  • Church Saint-Bartholomew: rebuilt in 1860, the church was mostly renovated in 2013, some parts requiring a major restoration. Possessing a lauze roof, the church is remarkable for its typical Limousin portal.
  • Lake Valetta :in Marcillac-la-Croisille, you can relax and have fun in this lake, nestled in an exceptional natural setting.

  • The Sport and Nature Station : tree climbing, paddling, canoeing, … you can practice many activities and sports at the edge of Lake Valetta, thanks to the Sports and Nature Station.

  • The Lantourne Viaduct :this 207 meters long construction was built in 1949, and was intended to the passage of the Transcorrezian line. It spans Lake Valetta, formed by the impoundment of the Valetta dam.

  • Bardot’s garden : built by Joseph Mas (whose nickname was Bardot) and his wife, this garden is atypical because built in terraces on the slopes of the Dordogne gorges. It is now protected and restored by the Regional Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Limousin, and is accessible by a small hiking trail.

  • ‘Roc du Busatier’ viewpoint : by walking around the villages and hamlets of Marcillac-la-Croisille, you will pass by Nougein and its Roc du Busatier viewpoint, which offers a masterly view of the Dordogne valley. Its orientation table will inform you about the fauna and flora that compose it.
