Lafage-sur-Sombre is located south of Egletons, and is near Marcillac-la-Croisille and Saint-Merd-de-Lapleau, not far from the Dordogne Valley.
Crossed by the Sombre stream and bordered by the Doustre, Lafage-sur-Sombre is located in the footsteps of the Transcorrezian (also called “Tacot”, meaning jalopy), which was a steam train linking Tulle to Ussel from 1913 to 1959. The town has kept several remains of the Transcorrezian road, including the town’s old train station (nicely restored), and the water supply cistern.
Lafage-sur-Sombre also has one beautiful oratory (called oradour in Limousin language). Its romanesque church is also something to be admired.
