La Chapelle Spinasse

Discover the charm of La Chapelle Spinasse in Corrèze.

South of Egletons, the small village of La Chapelle Spinasse makes reference to these typical villages of the former Corrèze. Composed mostly of farms and Limousin houses of character, many of which were built in the eighteenth century, La Chapelle Spinasse is watered by the Doustre. During the French Revolution, it even carried the names of “Le Doustre” and “Le Doustre Lespinasse”.

The parish church Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité, a remnant of a priory attested of the 10th century, is a small sanctuary with a single nave and square chevet, typically correzian. It is restored many times during the centuries, particularly in 1784, where it is shortened of a bay in the west. It is classified as a Historical Monument since 1977.
