The hiker’s charter, developed by the French Federation of Hiking and GRTgaz, was created to draw the hikers’ attention on the importance of preserving and respecting hiking trails. As an important hiking land, Ventadour-Egletons-Monédières hopes that everyone can enjoy the hiking trails in an optimal way, while contributing to the decline of its ecological footprint on the planet.
Here are some tips from the hiker’s charter to contribute, in its own way, to the preservation of the environment when hiking:
- Stay on trails to avoid trampling of species.
- Clean your soles to avoid damaging biodiversity (example: planting seeds or germs that are in the soil bonded to our soles).
- Recover every waste.
- Be discreet so as not to disturb the life of wild animals, who are not used to our noises.
- Do not make fire, which is a danger for man and for nature.
So hikers: together, preserve our hiking trails and our planet!
