Egletons’ lake

Egletons’ lake, called the Deiro, is a small piece of nature where you can swim, relax … and have fun !

5 minutes away from Egletons’ downtown, the Deiro Lake is a green setting, protected from highways by its natural setting. A 11 hectares place, off the beaten tracks, that allows visitors for a day, a weekend or a full week, to enjoy many choices of activities.

The Blue Flag Beach of Europe label

 

In 2018, the Deiro Lake received the Blue Flag Beach label, a symbol of recognition for its preserved environment. Specific equipments, preservation of water … in the Deiro Lake, everything is done so that our impact on the environment can be reduced. An intact and authentic nature .. just as we like it !

The activities at the Deiro Lake

 

In an exceptional setting, you can do many activities at the Deiro Lake :

  • Bathing : all year, you can take a swim in the Deiro waters, or just tan under the correzian sun on its beaches. In July and August, a lifeguard is here to oversee the lake and ensure your safety.

  • Fishing : dear fishermen, lake Deiro is made for you ! Labelled “Family course”, you can fish in its waters and enjoy a wonderful setting while doing it !

  • Health course : you can discover the Deiro Lake while playing sports by doing the Health course especially arranged for sportsmen and women.

  • Hiking : the lake is the starting point of many hiking routes. You can follow the “Troubadours’ route” that takes you to Moustier-Ventadour and Darnets. The lake is also a starting point for mountain bike’s hiking routes.

  • Events : during the summer, many events take place in the Deiro Lake. Tourists and inhabitants can enjoy these activities and events freely. Called “Les Mardis du Lac” (Tuesdays at the Lake), these events and activities combine sports and nature, and are made for adults and kids.

 

How to go to the Deiro Lake ?

 

  • By car : by the 1089 road, in direction of Ussel. For about a mile after Egleton, you turn left at the Ibis Hotel.

  • On foot : a special road for pedestrians, alongside the motorway, has been created to join the lake on foot. It takes about 10-15 minutes on average to reach the lake.
